Timey-Wimey Tea Time Recap

This episode Yomar Lopez and Stan Faryna go deeper – they gush over the YouTube comments for Timey-Wimey Tea Time, they contemplate beauty, they read some poetry, and, heck yes, they rock.

Good news: Derrick Hopkins of All Games is bringing the Timey-Wimey Tea Time to the big league with a hot Saturday slot try out.

All Games is an online, game community and podcast network founded by Scot Rubin. In fact, All Games is a pioneer podcast network and has a huge audience for it’s long list of successful podcasts including Video Game Outsiders, Zombie Cast, The B team, Dead Pixel Live, Agents of Shield, Knuckleballer Radio, and many more.  We’re excited and fueled by the momentum of the rail gun action. But we can’t do this without you, your love, or your fantastic support.

Yomar Lopez (aka Yogizilla) does some explaining. About the Doctor. About where we are in Doctor Who Series 8. About Episode Two, Into The Dalek.

Doctor Who is a 50 year + , BBC, sci-fi television series about a funny, little man that travels all of time and space. With a little help from his – mostly earthy- companions.

The Doctor, that’s his name, has worn more than a few faces – thirteen to be exact – over the years, but regardless of the face or accessories (scarf, bow tie, ref fez, robotic dog, etcetera), the Doctor remains the same loveable and intelligent alien-man, popping about in a wheezing, blue, police call box, called the TARDIS.

The TARDIS is a time machine. A space ship. And almost a world unto itself. Hey, it’s bigger on the inside!

In Series 8, The Doctor is not the Doctor. But he is! This is the (arguably) twelfth regeneration. He’s no longer a hipster-ish, floppy-haired boy toy as he was when portrayed by Matt Smith. The Doctor’s face and body change with each regeneration. Now, he’s the sexy, mature gentleman – gray hair, severe eye brows and tailored attire from an overpriced shop on Hyde Street. This is the Doctor that supposedly makes no mistakes. Or less mistakes. This is the Doctor that maybe fixes past mistakes.

Will he be a dangerous Doctor? Or a fatherly Doctor? Or both? Or something else?

Stan’s two cents

Doctor Who is one of the most enjoyable and intriguing mysteries of geek culture. And that’s why we talk about it. Because the Doctor captivates our collective Geek imagination. He reminds us of what’s best about us. And the worst. And how we must face our fears, our inescapable loneliness, and great challenges with courage, intelligence, compassion and a decisively good will.

Yomar and Stan answer a question put them by a fan on YouTube. What were their favorite regeneration scenes?

Looking up at Rose, the Doctor says, “I just wanted to tell you that you were fantastic. But, you know what. So was I.”Then Eccleston becomes the silly and sometimes petulant school boy that thinks he’s a man. Err, I meant Tennant.
“I don’t want to go,” Tennant bemoans. Then Tenant becomes the handsome monkey from outer space. Err, I mean Matt Smith.“I’m a girl,” exclaims the Doctor as he feels his floppy head of hair.

Yomar and Stan also share some of the love the Timey Wimey Tea Time podcast is getting on YouTube and elsewhere.

Puedo oír los tambores. El Maestro está por venir. Puedo oír los tambores.

Scarlett Beane:

What did you think about the rogue Dalek? Why did the doctor let him go?

@Yogizilla @Faryna so far so good! #megusta your #twtt lol

Tea time! 🙂
Tell us (@Faryna and @Yogizilla) how much and why you love the Timey-Wimely Tea Time on Twitter and we’ll post it in our recap with a little link love.

And then there was poetry.

Yomar read the last lines of Maya Angelou’s poem, Alone. It reminds Yomar of the Doctor’s travels, companions, and the dark threads being spun in Series 8.

Now if you listen closely
I’ll tell you what I know
Storm clouds are gathering
The wind is gonna blow
The race of man is suffering
And I can hear the moan,
‘Cause nobody,
But nobody
Can make it out here alone.

Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.

Stan recited Juan Ramón Jiménez’s poem, I am not I. He says it reminds him of the Doctor, regenerations, and the different faces worn by the Doctor.

I am not I.
                    I am this one
walking beside me whom I do not see,
whom at times I manage to visit,
and whom at other times I forget;
who remains calm and silent while I talk,
and forgives, gently, when I hate,
who walks where I am not,
who will remain standing when I die.

About Stan Faryna

  1. Come to think of it, the Doctor is more of a man-alien right now than an alien-man. Episode 3 proves this. SPOILERS! The twelfth Doctor proves that size doesn’t matter as he faces off against Robin Hood to defend his strength. Then they play footsies and argue like a married couple. So, Is the Doctor’s strength his intellect or his ego? It feels like more of Column B here. Such petty human behavior! *SMH*

  2. I went deep on the concept of the lonely Doctor but iOS support for WordPress apparently sucks. It ate my comment! I guess we will have to wait for #TWTT to go deeper! =o)

  3. Great show, guys!

    • Thank you! This weekend is going to be even more EPIC.. I’m binging on Doctor Who again.. And Amazon Prime has tons more free content on there, including all the Tennant and Smith specials!!

Gotta get set up for streaming and do some testing. I guess it will be another early Saturday morning. w00t!
